In the fast-paced urban life, perhaps we have long since stopped slowing down to feel the breath of a breeze or to watch the drifting of clouds from afar.

You are cordially invited to the photography exhibition by artist Chen Shangping: Between Heaven and Earth – Contemplating Nature.

Through his lens, step into a world reinterpreted by black-and-white light and shadow, and rediscover the natural landscapes that are at once most familiar to us and most easily overlooked, as you sense the inner rhythm and balance of nature.

The exhibition, titled “Between Heaven and Earth,” aims to guide viewers back to a pure way of seeing.

In his works, there are no profound theories, nor does he rely on excessive explanation. Instead, he seeks to convey, through the images themselves, the stillness and vastness of nature directly.

In speaking about his creative work, artist Chen Shangping reveals a deep-seated belief in “balance” and “harmony.” For him, there exists a subtle yet profound order among all things—like yin and yang, intertwining and growing together in mutual coexistence. This philosophy of balance is also reflected in his works: mountain ranges rising in layered grandeur, seas of clouds surging and flowing, and still waters that hold their own quiet power, each element both tense and complementary in relation to the others.

The well-placed, powerful lines and planes do not impose a sense of pressure; rather, they create a reassuring balance that restores nature’s most essential rhythm, as if carrying the viewer back to the tranquil moment at the dawn of creation。

Chen Shangping also noted that his exploration of the grand theme of “heaven and earth” begins from within himself. He believes that “we all come from heaven and earth, and we will ultimately return to heaven and earth.

Life originates from nature, and thus within human vision and perception there exists an innate resonance with the natural world. What his lens captures are precisely those fleeting moments of this subtle resonance.
